Timely exchange of information crucial for effective fight against crime

Cooperation between Montenegro and Switzerland is good, but must be further strengthened in order to jointly respond to security challenges such as illegal migration, fight against organised crime and terrorism, it was concluded earlier today in a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Duško Marković and Director of the Swiss Federal Police Nicoletta della Valle.

An agreement on police cooperation in the fight against crime will be signed today by Director della Valle and Head of the Montenegrin Police Authority Slavko Stojanović, thus contributing to boosting cooperation between the two institutions, the two officials noted. It was stressed that timely exchange of information and close cooperation between law enforcement authorities is crucial for responding to contemporary security threats.

Commenting on the current migrant crisis, Mr Marković informed Mrs della Valle about the Government of Montenegro’s activities and plans aimed at providing an effective response, complied with the EU policy, in case that a new migrant route opens up in Montenegro.
