Montenegrin institutions and organizations have the opportunity to establish cooperation with partners from 35 European countries within the Interreg Europe Interregional Cooperation Program and implement projects aimed at exchanging experiences and improving regional development policies, it was announced today in Podgorica at the info day dedicated to the Third and Restrictive Call of this program.
“Through a wide range of themes – from strengthening research and innovation capacities, to environmental protection, social policies, and integrated urban development – the Program works on creating a smarter, greener, more connected, and socially inclusive Europe, a Europe closer to its citizens, while also promoting better governance,” said Miloš Marković, Acting Director General of the Directorate for European Territorial Cooperation at the Ministry of European Affairs.
Representatives of the Joint Secretariat of the program from Lille, Ervin Siveris and Etienne Verhele-Rodzinka, spoke about the conditions and rules for applying to both calls. Within the Third Call, institutions and organizations from Montenegro have the opportunity to participate in projects that contribute to better governance and a more innovative, sustainable, and inclusive European territory. Additionally, within the Restrictive Call, Montenegrin institutions and organizations also have the opportunity to join existing projects that have already been approved under the First and Second Calls.
“I firmly believe that Montenegrin institutions and organizations will be a valuable resource in the Interreg Europe program. Just as we can learn from others, so too can others learn from us. Therefore, I am confident that many of you will take advantage of the opportunities provided by this and other Interreg programs in Montenegro,” added Marković.
The program area of the Interreg Europe program includes 36 countries, including all EU member states, Norway, and Switzerland, as well as 7 candidate countries for EU membership (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Moldova, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Ukraine), which recently joined this program.
The deadline for submitting project proposals for both calls is June 7, 2024.
