Montenegrin state administration expects the biggest legal and translation challenge in history, which implies a professional and legal-technical revision of the EU acquis, translated into the Montenegrin language.
In Respa in Danilovgrad, a three-day workshop on the professional and legal drafting of the translation of the acquis communautaire, organized by the European Integration Office and the Brussels International Consulting Expertise, was held.
Workshop was attended by 52 representatives of line ministries and other institutions that will be in charge of the legal and technical redacts of the Montenegrin translations of European legal acts in the process of preparation of the Montenegrin version of the legal acquis, as well as the officials of the Department for the preparation of the Montenegrin version of the EU acquis from the European Integration Office.
Since the end of 2014, when the process of systematic preparation of the national version of the EU acquis has begun, within the two IPA projects, Montenegro has translated around 40,000 pages of the legal text into Montenegrin, and, as ordered, it is the last moment to start working on the professional and legal-technical redacts of existing translations.
In front the state administration is the biggest legal and translation challenge in history, and we have to approach to this task in a planned and thorough manner. The professional and legal translation will be attended by the entire state administration, and for this job will be necessary all the knowledge and experience gained in the current process of European integration.
The lecturers at the workshop were representatives of the Ministry of European Integration of the Republic of Serbia working in the unit for coordinating the preparation of the Serbian version of the EU acquis. During the workshop, the coordinators, as well as the expert and legal editors, got acquainted with all the elements of the process of preparing the national version of the EU acquis, as well as all the tasks that they expect in the process of revising the translation of legal texts, for which their colleagues from the Republic of Serbia for several years work very fast.
