Montenegrin national organs will continue carrying out high quality reforms in the field of rule of law, with expectation that the European Commission will recognize the results proving that Montenegro is ready for the new phase of negotiation process in this year’s progress report.

That was heard during the meeting between the Montenegrin delegation and non-resident ambassadors in Belgrade.

Montenegrin delegation, led by Chief Negotiator Aleksandar Drljevic, was comprised of negotiator for chapters 23 and 24 Marijana Lakovic, Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoje Katnic, director of the Anti-Corruption Agency Sreten Radonjic, and Montenegrin ambassador in Serbia Branislav Micunovic.

During the meeting with the representatives of the embassies of Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Spain and Portugal, they presented the results in the field of fight against corruption and organized crime.

“Montenegro is determined to continue with achieving persuasive results in the field of rule of law and showing readiness for the next negotiation phase. We expect all EU members to recognize the progress in the work of the relevant institutions, which will result in receiving the report on meeting the interim benchmarks in chapters 23 and 24, and final benchmarks consecutively”, the Montenegrin delegation stated.

Drljevic emphasized that strengthening of the rule of law is in the focus of the government’s work, considering the importance of this field for general progress of the Montenegrins society.
