In May, on the occasion of Europe Day, the Ministry of European Affairs organized its traditional competition for the best journalistic stories on Montenegro’s European integration, through the EU4ME project. The jury selected the winners.
First place and 500 EUR were awarded to Maja Lalatović, a journalist from Radio Television Nikšić, for her story on an animal by-product processing plant, which will be funded by the EU. The second place and 400 EUR went to Ivana Boljević, a journalist from TV Prva, for her story on the European Union’s support for agricultural producers. The third prize and 300 EUR were awarded to Alisa Hajdarpašić, a journalist from TV Vijesti, for her story on the European Union’s support in addressing air pollution in Pljevlja through energy efficiency incentive programs.
Journalists from local and national media were eligible to participate in the competition. Their task was to publish stories about the impact of European integration on the promotion of human rights, how EU projects affect the lives of citizens, and examples of implementing European standards and policies.
The jury that selected the best stories included representatives from the Ministry of European Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and Media, as well as the multi-award-winning journalist Svetlana Mandić. The awards ceremony will be held in June in Podgorica.
