Awarding ceremony for the winners of the quiz “How much do you know about the EU?”

The winners of the online quiz “How much do you know about the EU?” were awarded today. The quiz was organized by the Ministry of European Affairs, within the “EU4ME” project funded by the European Union, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation. In total, 130 eighth and ninth grade elementary school students participated in the competition, and they gave 1,950 answers to 15 questions.

A student of the 9th grade of Elementary School “Vuk Karadžić” in Podgorica Nikolina Vojvodić won first prize, Arnes Drpljanin, a student of the 9th grade of Elementary School “Nedakusi” in Bijelo Polje was second, while the third place went to Ksenija Dubravčević, a student of the 9th grade of Elementary school “Njegoš” from Kotor.

They won vouchers for the purchase of sports equipment. They received diplomas and awards from the Ministers of European Affairs and Education, Science and Innovation, Maida Gorčević and Anđela Jakšić-Stojanović.

Minister Gorčević congratulated the winners on the knowledge they demonstrated and expressed her satisfaction that a large number of primary school students from schools in the northern, central and southern regions of Montenegro participated in the quiz. She encouraged them to continue learning and improving their knowledge and skills to prepare for all the benefits of membership.

“When Montenegro becomes the next member of the European Union, you will have the opportunity to simply and easily travel, study, or work in any European country. To make the most of all the opportunities that will be in front of you, I encourage you to continue on this path, to research and learn about European topics, and prepare for all the good things that await us when we officially become part of the European family,” Minister Gorčević said.

Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, prof. Dr. Anđela Jakšić-Stojanović congratulated the students on their exceptional knowledge of the European Union, stressing that full membership in the EU is a key strategic goal of Montenegro. She added that any investment in young people represents the best investment in the future of our country. Minister Jakšić-Stojanović expressed her hope that the winners will continue to expand their knowledge about the EU and that they will be the key bearers of better and more beautiful society for all of us. She emphasized the support of the EU as a key partner for Montenegro in the field of education, science and innovation, and promised dedicated work in that direction in the coming period.

Nikolina, Arnes and Ksenija talked with the ministers about the motives for participating in the quiz and how they get information about the EU. They said that the questions were not difficult for them, but that they would like to see more formal and informal events and activities in the coming period that will involve elementary school students and thus bring them closer to the European Union, its values ​​, and the opportunities that membership will bring.
