A total of 125 applications have been submitted so far within the framework of the IPARD-like project, offering grants for investments in agricultural households.
The call for applications will be open for five more days.
“The total value of the submitted applications is around €3.6 million, out of which round €1.8 million would be covered form the European funds,” the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development says in a press release.
According to the press release, the majority of applications came from Podgroica, Niksic, Bijelo Polje and Berane.
“We expect that most of the farmers who expressed serious interest during the campaign for the IPARD-like project will submit their applications in the last five days,” the Ministry says.
Under the IPARD-like call, a total of €4.1 million is available in grants to the farmers planning to invest in the primary agricultural production.
“The support, amounting to 50 percent of an investment made is an excellent opportunity for Montenegrin farmers to increase the live stock and the planted areas, reduce their production costs and improve their competitiveness,” the Ministry says.
The Ministry believes that this would develop the capacities of Montenegrin farmers to absorb the European Union funds from the IPARD project, which is more demanding. Montenegrin farmers will be able to apply for funds from this programme next year.
