After nine weeks of internship 10 master’s students from universities in Montenegro successfully completed the first rotational practice program of the Ministry of European Affairs.
The program is based on a one-week rotation of interns through all 12 directorates and 2 bureaus within our ministry. With this concept students had the opportunity to get acquainted with and gain various knowledge and experiences related to the negotiation process with the European Union, communication of the process to the public, as well as topics such as European funds, EU legal acquis, work in public administration and the European integration process.
To make the acquisition of new knowledge and skills easier, more practical, and more efficient, the interns received support from mentors – colleagues responsible for the work of the ministry’s units – in each directorate and bureau. The program was concluded with a meeting between the Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević and the chief negotiator with the EU, Dr. Predrag Zenović, and the interns where they shared experiences, impressions, observations, and suggestions for improving the program, as well as for the further work of the ministry in areas concerning youth.
In the upcoming iterations of the program, the Ministry of European Affairs will continue to integrate young people into its work. They are key partners and the foundation of our shared European future. Therefore, we must continue to support and empower them so that, with the strength of their ideas and visions, we can successfully bring the negotiation process to a close.
