Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Igor Lukšić hosted earlier today a farewell visit by US Ambassador Sue K Brown.
The US strongly supports Montenegro in the reforms processes in various areas and in its continued progress in the process of Euro-Atlantic and European integration, Ambassador Brown has said, noting that Montenegro can count on the US help in the future as well towards meeting in the best possible way the criteria for further progress in integration processes.
She said that Montenegro’s results as a regional leader towards NATO and the EU are visible and she was hopeful that the progress will be even more visible in the future owing to continued and hard work.
Deputy Prime Minister Lukšić thanked Madam Ambassador for the support to the reforms in Montenegro’s society, as well as for her personal contribution towards further strengthening bilateral cooperation and cooperation in integration processes.
He underlined that the Government’s focus remains on the areas of NATO and EU integration and in that context on further boost of economic development and strengthening of stability and security. He voiced his belief that Montenegro’s progress in these areas encourages development and strengthens regional stability. Montenegro’s NATO membership is the most certain way of ensuring the country’s stability, which further strengthens the preconditions for further economic progress, Mr Lukšić has said.
The two officials also discussed other priority reform topics and they exchanged views on current regional developments as well as key global issues.
