Montenegro’s Interior Minister Raško Konjević met today with his Finnish counterpart Paivi Rasanen to discuss implementation of defined requirements and framework for strengthening cooperation between the two ministries.
The two officials exchanged experiences related to the border security, emergency situations, public administration organisation and Montenegro’s progress towards EU integration process.
Minister Konjević highlighted that Montenegro is committed to pursuing its European agenda, adding that focus should be put on the quality of the reform process and not on the speed of its implementation. He informed Ms Rasanen about adopted and planned normative framework in fighting organised crime and corruption, stressing that there are many challenges Montenegro should overcome in implementing regulations which will provide tangible results.
Finland supports Montenegro’s aspirations to become a part of the EU, adding that it has developed solid track record in the negotiation process.
Finland will continue providing support to Montenegro in the coming period, Minister Rasanen emphasised, commending Montenegro for adopting few very important regulations for combating organised crime.
