The Association of Young Environmentalists Nikšić marked the Day of European Cooperation by organizing creative workshops for children and campaigns for citizens. In this way, Nikšić was one of the cities across Europe that marked this date, celebrating the importance and achievements of territorial cooperation.
“The date symbolically draws attention to the allocation of EU funds for numerous projects, which enable the European development model to be adapted to the new global reality, to overcome common challenges such as climate change, social inclusion, to improve tourism, cultural exchange and all that it contributes to a better life for citizens, regardless of where they live,” was announced by Association.
During the creative workshop, with the help of animators, children drew works on the topic of ecology and the connection between Montenegro and the EU, and at the end, an outdoor exhibition was held. The participants of the workshop were children from the “Dragan Kovačević” Junior High School, Lastavica educational unit and Luka Simonović and Olga Golović elementary schools.
The campaign was accompanied by promotional materials (mugs, caps) with the logos of Montenegro, the EU and DMEN and the inscription “Let’s travel to the EU”, which were distributed to children and citizens.
“During the campaign, we talked with citizens about EU integration with a focus on the environment and climate change, and at the same time reminded of September 20 as an important date when Montenegro was declared an ecological country in 1991,” announced the organizers.
The Association of Young Environmentalists Nikšić marked the Day of European Cooperation within the project “Contribution to the EU accession process through the prism of Chapter 27”, which the Ministry of European Affairs supported as part of the competition for the distribution of funds for the financing of projects and programs of non-governmental organizations in 2024 under the name “On the European Path”.
