Dear citizens,
As someone who strongly believes in the transformative power of the European integration process and even more strongly in Montenegro’s place in the family of European states and people, I always look forward to May 9th, Europe Day, and the message it carries.
This year, in addition to the joy of the symbolism of this date, we approach this holiday with optimism and faith that during June, at the Intergovernmental Conference, we will receive recognition from our European partners for the dedicated and hard work and results achieved over the past six months, which will certainly take us to a new European level and, I am convinced, write a new page in our European future.
Over the past six months, this Government and negotiating structure, together with the legislative and judicial branches of government, have worked tirelessly and diligently, without pause or rest in all areas. This has resulted in fulfilling the most important interim benchmarks in Chapters 23 and 24, as well as confirmation that Montenegro is ready to draw generous funds from the Western Balkans Growth and Stability Pact and to complete reforms in a quality and efficient manner, preparing to become the 28th EU member state in 2028.
Comprehensive reforms and visible results have paved the way for us to finalize this process in the next short-term period and achieve the long-awaited EU membership.
Dear citizens,
EU membership is a common goal and project for all of us in Montenegro. Therefore, this year, Europe Day, we celebrate throughout our country, in several cities in the north, center, and south, where together with you, as well as with our partners and friends from local governments, civil society, and representations of EU member states, we will mark this holiday and remind ourselves of the significance of the values it carries.
The new strength, optimism, and faith in the goal set by this Government give us additional impetus to work even better in the coming period for our citizens, and to welcome the next Europe Day even closer to European standards and values, as well as close to membership in the family of nations to which we belong.
