Montenegro joins the “Creative Europe” programme

Head of the Permanent Mission of Montenegro to the EU Ivan Leković and Director General of DG Education and Culture Jan Truszczyński signed earlier today in Brussels the Agreement on Montenegro’s accession to the “Creative Europe” programme, which is the most important European framework for financing projects in the areas of culture, art, and media. In addition to becoming eligible to access a fund of 1.46 billion EUR in total, Montenegrin artists and other culture workers will have the ability to establish international partnerships with most relevant European culture institutions, as well as to improve the trans-national and inter-cultural aspects of their creative work.

By the signing of this Agreement with the EU, Montenegrin organisations will be able to apply, within four competitions of the Culture sub-programme, for grants on cooperation projects, literary translation, and establishment of European networks and platforms. The Agreement also defines that Montenegro will be allowed to participate in the Media sub-programme, which offers support in the audio-visual area, after it will have fully aligned its media regulations with the EU acquis communautaire.

In accordance with the set propositions for participation and the provisions of the Agreement, the Ministry of Culture has established a centre for the promotion of the programme in Montenegro, called “Creative Europe Desk,” which will be tasked to provide support to prospective users in the process of developing project ideas and aligning them with European standards.
