Zenović for TVCG: Dialogue is the solution to the disagreements between Montenegro and Croatia

The Chief Negotiator of Montenegro with the European Union, Predrag Zenović, said that dialogue will be the solution to the current disagreements that exist between Montenegro and Croatia.

“I am convinced in the good intentions of Minister of Defense of Montenegro, Dragan Krapović, as well as in the support that Croatia provides to Montenegro on its European path,” Zenović said during a guest appearance in Dnevnik TVCG.

He emphasized that he is assured that there is a justified belief that Montenegro is indeed a leader in European integration.

“Montenegro is negotiating with the European Union in a format that is more complex in the history of European integration, and in such frameworks it is a leader,” Zenović said.

Zenović said that there is optimism that Montenegro will achieve internal readiness for European integration during the mandate of this Government.

“There are certain problems that existed in a political structure of Montenegro in the previous period, but precisely with overcoming the institutional crisis with important appointments in the judiciary as well as with the political dynamic that exists between the Government and the Assembly, all these problems have been resolved and there is optimism that Montenegro with this dynamic, can achieve an internal readiness for integration in the mandate of this Government”, said Zenović.

Commenting on the possibility of the imminent closure of certain chapters after meeting the criteria in the rule of law domain, Zenović noted that the new revised methodology implies that the closure of other chapters requires meeting the criteria in chapters 23 and 24.

“The moment when what is the foundation and base, which is the rule of law and what is predicted by the new methodology, would be fulfilled, then Montenegro would very quickly start the process of closing the chapter, and finally closing the cluster, which is predicted by the new methodology, most likely it would be Cluster 2”, said Zenović.

Zenović emphasized that the election of VDT would mean a lot for Montenegro’s European path.

“Since in that full capacity and mandate it will be such an important role in the prosecution and justice system of a country, it means a step forward in Chapters 23 and 24, and I really believe that our European partners will see it as an important step forward and as a clear Montenegro’s determination to return to the European track,” Zenović pointed out.
