PM Đukanovć to participate in Western Balkans Summit in Vienna on Thursday

Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Đukanovć will travel tomorrow to Vienna, where he will participate in the Western Balkans Summit, at the invitation of the Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann.

The Vienna Summit will be held in the framework of the Berlin Process, which was initiated by German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the Conference on the Western Balkans in late August 2014 in order to strengthen support to the European perspective, economic development and improved infrastructure links within the region and with EU countries.

The Prime Minister will speak at a panel debate “Economic situation and reform process in the Western Balkans”. The main topics of the Summit will be infrastructure and connectivity, regional cooperation, youth, and the refugee challenge.

In addition to the host and heads of government of Western Balkan countries, the Summit will be attended by Chancellor Merkel, prime ministers of Slovenia and Croatia, EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, EU Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, as well as leaders of international financial institutions.

The prime ministers will adopt the Vienna Summit Declaration which reflects the progress achieved and strong commitment to further efforts in the field of regional cooperation within the framework of the Berlin Process.

During his stay in Vienna, Prime Minister Đukanović will, among others, meet with EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Johannes Hahn and President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Suma Chakrabarti. He will also attend the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Treaty establishing the Energy Community.

Prime Minister Đukanović will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Igor Lukšić, and Minister of Economy Vladimir Kavarić.
